Summer is almost over and I am trying to squeeze in a few more good books...
What should I read?
I am currently working on The Absolutely True Diary of A Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. This is a great book so far, the author is a WONDERFUL story teller!
I am also finishing So B. It by Sarah Weeks. I started reading this book while browsing and it turned out to be very gripping. I can't wait to finish it.
Any suggestions for a great read?

Do you know what tomorrow is?!
Friday April 18th is National Laundromat Day. In honor of this special day we have a quiz for all teen patrons that could win them prizes. Knowing random facts about laundromats and laundry could actually get you a book and a gift certificate.
So if you want to play, it is easy. Come to the teen reference desk outside of the teen room and ask for a laundromat quiz. Then fill out the quiz and give it back to the librarian.
On Monday all scores will be tallied and the person with the highest score wins. If there is more then one highest score the top scorers will be entered in a drawing. The winner will be called Monday afternoon.
Now start studying your laundramat facts!

Do you know what day it is?!
It is Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day! On this winter day, people go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo".
It is a day to chase away winter and bring in spring. After all, everyone in the northern hemisphere is sick and tired of winter at this point, and a little crazy from being cooped up inside all winter and seeing little sun. I know I will be doing my Hoodie-Hoo chant today!
P.S. Hoodie-Hoo Day is actually a copyrighted holiday and brought to us by the lovely people at wellcat.com

Here's what I am reading, how about you?!
I am just finishing up Daniel Water's Generation Dead. This book is an exciting, delightful, and wonderfully crafted book. Water's has a fabulous sense of popular culture and trivia, as well as the ability to meld reality and fantasy. How do you not love a book that refers to zombies as "living impaired"?! This book brings together creepy, high school, and romance... isn't that basicly everyones school experience?! Read it! It's AWESOME!
Now tell me what you are reading!

Book discussion January 19th at 4 pm
Join me for a book discussion on January 19th about Tyrell by Coe Booth.
From Booklist
*Starred Review* "You don't hardly get to have no kinda childhood in the hood." At 15, Tyrell is trying to keep his little brother in school and safe in their roach-infested shelter in the Bronx. He has dropped out of school, and Moms wants him to sell drugs to make money. But Tyrell is too smart. He doesn't want to end up in prison like his dad, so he tries to organize a neighborhood party to raise money. His girlfriend, Novisha, isn't happy that Tyrell has dropped out. She loves him, and they make out, but he respects her wish to remain a virgin. Booth, who was born and raised in the Bronx, is now a social worker there, and her first novel is heartbreakingly realistic. There are some plot contrivances--including Tyrell's stumbling upon Novisha's diary--but the immediate first-person narrative is pitch perfect: fast, funny, and anguished (there's also lots of use of then-word, though the term is employed in the colloquial sense, not as an insult). Unlike many books reflecting the contemporary street scene, this one is more than just a pat situation with a glib resolution; it's filled with surprising twists and turns that continue to the end.
